Emergency Management

When a natural disaster strikes, it is very dangerous for the general public and potentially deadly for a person with a disability. People with disabilities have an obligation to plan what they will do if disaster strikes, questions like these should be considered: do you know how you would get the medication you need, where to go to access an accessible emergency shelter, does local emergency response teams know where you live so they can come to your aid, especially if you have been transferred into bed and your attendant has gone home and you are alone. If you don't know where to start, Options staff can assist with a plan of action.
